KS Funderburg
As KS
Funderburg so glibly puts it ”living in the middle of a
corn field” has certainly helped her develop a solid
foundation
in both color and design. Daily changes in sky and
field, woods and stream repeatedly catch her attention.
Not
that her
focus is completely on the outdoor scenery, but it is
this constantly changing sensory input that may spark a
completely
different thought to be captured in a new painting or
quick sketch drawing.
Kathy later attended
both Saturday classes at the Toledo Museum of Art and at
the various kitchen tables of more than a
few little
local art ladies throughout her younger life. In time,
those classes led to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in
the very
early
70’s.
It is that education that pioneered over 40 years in the
Graphic Arts industry and a love of all things design!
Teaching Color
and Design Theory and Drawing I at Defiance College
part-time also helps to keep the creative juices flowing.
Owning one of the oldest buildings in
Bryan, on the historic downtown square, the first floor
has been graciously donated,
by her husband, for her to use as a gallery and studio.
She is very grateful to say the least!
